The equestrian events at the 2012 London Olympic Games have finally come to a close. This morning was the individual dressage competition, and one of my favorite events! I love to watch freestyle dressage routines and see what music they have choreographed too. I thought Steffen Peters’ ride on Ravel was good and definitely fun to watch. My favorites came at the end. I adored the freestyle to the Nutcracker ridden by Adelinde Cornelissen of the Netherlands, and of course, Charlotte Dujardin’s ride. Dujardin’s ride on Valegro was superb, the music was full of pompous flair, and Valegro executed the movements with such style. They landed the gold medal for Great Britain with an Olympic record score of 90.089. I will admit that I did tear up at the end listening to Charlotte talk about Valegro. She mentioned that she knew her horse was so tired and yet he gave everything he had for her which in turn clinched her the gold medal. Valegro has a huge heart! If I can find videos of these two rides, I will post them. Below are the results.
